Brief updates may be possible, but clinical discussions should be scheduled to ensure adequate time and privacy. Use the Schedule a Parent Meeting link when a longer conversation is needed.

How often is parent/caregiver training required?
Caregiver participation is an important component of ABA treatment. The frequency may vary based on your child’s treatment plan, clinical needs, and payer requirements.

Why are parent training sessions important?
They help caregivers learn strategies that support communication, independence, behavior reduction, and generalization of skills outside of therapy.

The BCBA will review progress, current clinical needs, caregiver input, and assessment data to determine appropriate recommendations. Continued services and authorized hours are ultimately subject to payer approval.

What happens if my child becomes sick during therapy?
The caregiver will be contacted when a child develops symptoms that require them to leave the treatment environment in accordance with DBI's illness and safety procedures.

Does the RBT replace my child’s teacher, paraprofessional, or school staff?
No. ABA staff provide behavioral treatment within their professional scope and do not replace educational personnel or the school's responsibility to provide educational services.

Can my BCBA attend an IEP meeting?
When appropriate and with proper authorization, your BCBA may participate in care coordination and collaborate with your child’s educational team.

Are there cameras in the DBI clinic?

Yes. DBI utilizes video surveillance in designated areas of the clinic to support safety, security, quality assurance, and review of incidents or concerns when necessary. Cameras are not placed in areas where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as restrooms. Video footage is maintained and accessed in accordance with DBI policies and applicable privacy requirements.

Does DBI use restraints?

DBI does not use physical restraint as a routine behavior-management or teaching strategy. Our team prioritizes proactive, least-restrictive approaches, including environmental modifications, reinforcement, functional communication, redirection, de-escalation, and appropriate safety measures.

Staff may use appropriate protective or safety responses when necessary to prevent immediate injury, consistent with their training, scope of practice, the client’s individualized treatment/safety plan, DBI policy, and applicable requirements. Any restrictive or emergency safety procedure is subject to appropriate clinical oversight, documentation, and applicable consent requirements.
